TED Talk Tuesday: Hans Rosling

Hans Rosling has made several trips to TED to talk about the poverty in the world and how to address the problem.  He specializes in creating amazing visualizations of the data to prove his point.  In his latest TED talk, Rosling makes a simple case for the Washing Machine.  Only 2 billion people (out of the world's 7 billion) can reasonably afford a washing machine.  This means that most women in the world spend hours and hours of their time washing clothes by hand in buckets or in rivers.  That time could be better used for other purposes.  With the invention of the Washing Machine, mothers had time to read to their children and facilitate their education.

Rosling also talks about energy consumption and makes some great points their as well.

Enjoy!
